We always like to capitalize on our Home Course Advantage. Tonight we are going to focus on the 1st mile.
SHORT TAPER RUN - jog to start and run through the first mile to Dufroq School and back(see map)
4.5 MILE IF YOU WANT A FEW MORE MILES IN YOUR TAPER RUN:
Easy run around the Capitol Building to the start. You don’t have to wait on everyone. Just start when you get there.
Line up on the left side and hug that curve in the first 1/4 mile of the run. If you line up in the middle or right you are running longer.
Concentrate on the hard fact that you really don’t want to pass too many people rolling out on North Blvd. It is far too early to waste you competitive instincts. Think to yourself “yeah, race me now but I’ll see you later”
One Mile is at the start of North Blvd Overpass. Please, please don’t be too fast here! You can start rolling later in the long race. You might say “But I feel great” and I say “tell me that when you see the Overpass on the way back”
VERY IMPORTANT - run very easy up the Overpass. Relaxed. Shorter steps. No extra effort. Look to the top of the Overpass.
