This is really a Coach Boudreaux Classic that his track teams traditionally do close to the end of the season. The goal for the Catholic High kids was to break a 4:00 minute mile in this workout. So keep that in mind. There are the heralded few that have ever done it over the years.
I have probably told a lot of you that I trained for 3 years with Coach Boudreaux. To take the calendar back a few years…it was when Tre’ Hendry was in high school(for those of you that know Tre’) I wanted to run a fast 800 and mile on the track and knew Coach B could get me there.
NO, I didn’t break the 4:00 minute mile in the 220 workout… but I learned to appreciate the Coach Boudreaux method. I am sure I bring a lot of it into the workouts I plan.
Warm Up 1 1/2 Miles to the track.
What is your Goal Mile Time?
8 x 220 timing each 220 segment.
Recovery is fast jog cutting across the football field. Short recovery! SO YOU ALWAYS START AT THE SAME PLACE.
Your goal is to run your Goal Mile in 220s.
**We’ll have some relay batons to practice exchanges for those of you entered in the Retro Relay!
Cool down around the track and however long after.
